Communities

The CMRC is dedicated to community development, particularly to revitalizing communities that have been economically disenfranchised by de-industrialization. Through our special programs, projects and advocacy, the CMRC works to:
  • Create a workforce development system with clearly defined career pathways based on industry-recognized skill standards and credentials;

  • Ensure that residents from poor communities can get the education and training they need to obtain high-wage jobs;

  • Promote high-wage careers in advanced manufacturing;

  • Encourage community involvement/leadership in economic development;

  • Attract more manufacturing companies to our communities; and

  • Prepare the next generation of high road managers and owners in manufacturing.

The CMRC’s relationship with our community partners strengthens the region’s competitiveness in the global economy. The CMRC will harness the innovation, energy, talent and creativity of our community partners to establish the Chicago area as a global leader in high-performance manufacturing.
